A squashed can is used to provide the armature for the paper-clay. A base coat of the acrylic paint+baking soda mixture is used to create the textured surface. Acrylic paint and metallic wax finishe the surface colors. The gold colored wire and sea forms are adhered with E6000 glue.
This is the color of the paper clay while still wet. The shell sand and shells are imbedded into the surface while the paper clay is still wet. After drying, the larger shells were glued in place using E6000 glue. A final coat of Mod Podge adhered the shell sand.
This flower bowl was formed over an inverted bowl, covered with plastic wrap. After fully drying, the interior was painted with a coat of white Gesso paint. Acrylic paints were applied, using the interior like a canvas. The exterior of the bowl was left mostly natural colored, and sealed with a coat of glossy Mod Podge. This decorative plate was formed over a Corelle shallow bowl. The larger, raised starfish was created after the plate was dry enough to lift off from the aramature. It was created using Mod Podge soaked paper toweling. After the plate was fully dry, the rest of the decor was added using acrylic paints, shell sand, and small shells.
This vase is created to hold water by leaving a water bottle in the completed piece. Aluminum foil balls, glued in place, are used to make the lower part of the form. An acrylic paint + baking soda coat is applied to create a stone-like finish. Metallic wax and acrylic paints add layers of color. The colorful yarn is soaked with PVA glue and wrapped after the piece was painted.
